Boubacar Traoré had the whole of Mali dancing to his music when the Rolling Stones were still performing as a cover band. The exceptional musician achieved success with hits like “Mali Twist” and “Kar Kar Madison” long before Keith Richards knew the riff for “Satisfaction”.
But there is also one thing in common with Mick & Co.: Boubacar Traoré, nicknamed Kar Kar, is tireless on tour. A phenomenal live musician who still knows how to inspire young audiences. Since the turn of the millennium at the latest, he has been celebrated as one of the great fathers and ambassadors of modern Mandingo music. He combines characteristic playing techniques and ideas from West Africa with the philosophy of the blues from the south of the USA. It is his experiences as a bricklayer and farmer, his hardships as a single father and the grief for his late wife that make his songs so believable and fragile. Now Kar Kar is coming to Europe with his current programme and of course to Dudelange. The blues musician from Kayes in western Mali will be accompanied by two other musicians – calabash player Babah Konéhat and harmonica player Vincent Bucher.
Between melancholy and confidence and driven by the unstoppable desire to make music, the trio around Kar Kar will ensure an unforgettable evening.
