" My new album, Cinematic, is dedicated to my second great passion, movies. My first passion is of course music, so I thought it would be fun to revisit and reinterpret some of the great film scores by some of my favorite film composers. I wanted to select some themes that most people will recognize as well as some lesser know pieces that could be adapted to a jazz quintet. We recorded pieces by Ennio Morricone, John Williams, Michel Legrand, Henry Mancini, Lalo Schifrin and Bernard Herrmann as well as a couple of pieces composed by myself and my father for his films. The music is performed by my regular group, Andrew McCormack on piano, Quentin Collins on trumpet, Brandon Allen on saxophone and Chris Higginbottom on drums as well as guest vocalists Hugh Coltman and Camille Bertault. Enjoy! "
In the 17 years since the release of Kyle Eastwood's debut album From There To Here, this multi-talented bassist, composer and producer has forged a dynamic musical path. His style is artistic and eclectic yet refined, transcending the boundaries of jazz by exploring an ever-widening range of musical influences.
The Retrospective 5tet comes straight from the underground and builds a steady groove. Coming from central Europe, the Retrospective 5tet takes note of the history and heritage of jazz. With modern jazz fusion and hip beats, the group tries to breathe new life into the local jazz scene.
They are not just players, they are real musicians.
