With a dozen albums to his credit, Kyle Eastwood has not given in to his desire. Although he made a few screen appearances when he was younger, he decided to devote himself to jazz when he left his teens. While composing several scores for his father (Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby and Letters From Iwo Jima), he confirmed his career as a leader over the years.
As a double bassist and bass player, he has remained faithful to a traditional, melodic approach to jazz, which he often enriches with lyrical embellishments. ‘Cinema is my second passion’, he confesses. So it seemed only natural that his quintet should now turn its attention to film soundtracks.
Kyle Eastwood's new creation, “Eastwood by Eastwood”, is a tribute to his father based around a dozen film scores. Created in autumn 2022, the project was released as an album in September 202 and will tour during the 2024-2025 season.
