Since joining Miles Davis' band in the mid-1980s, saxophonist Kenny Garrett has stood for one thing above all else: the pursuit of absolute perfection. This may have stood in the way of his emotionality at times, but who can simply change who they are? However, Kenny Garrett is also getting older.
On his new album, ‘Sounds From The Ancestors’ (Mack Avenue/in-akustik), he distances himself further than ever before. And lo and behold, he reveals sides to his personality that we have not heard before.
