Welcome to Italian Jazz Night! We're thrilled to present two outstanding acts: the Federica Michisanti Quartet, renowned for their innovative melodies and emotional depth, and the Giovanni Falzone Trio, celebrated for their dynamic and energetic performances.
The new project by double bassist and composer Federica Michisanti brings together Louis Sclavis on clarinets, with whom the collaboration has been ongoing for some time, and for the first time Vincent Courtois on cello and Michele Rabbia on drums and electronics, three extraordinary musicians among the most significant on the European contemporary jazz scene.
The quartet presents Michisanti's compositions, which maintain a sound drawing from European classical music and jazz avant-garde, allowing plenty of space for spontaneous improvisation and enriched by the percussive contribution of the drums and the originality of the electronics.
This is a series of pieces composed by Giovanni Falzone in an unconventional form. The main goal of this project is to revisit, according to the leader's personal vision, performance moments with well-defined structures for all instruments and moments of pure "interplay" - that is, the desire to carry forward a common thought, turning a small idea into a collective musical discourse, based primarily on thematic improvisation and the use of electronics.
The compositions are characterized by strong rhythmic and melodic components - imbued with influences ranging from Mediterranean Folk to Punk/Rock - through which the Trio moves the entire soundscape. This project includes skilled and attentive musicians with whom Falzone has established a relationship of complicity and musical understanding, thanks especially to their sensitivity and ability to perceive every little signal.
