Powered by the internationally recognized musical talents of bass clarinetist Michel Pilz, saxophonist Roby Glod and keyboardist Leon den Engelsen, The Grand Cosmic Journey extends the Benoit Martiny Band experience.
With elements of Free Jazz, Krautrock, Psychedelia and completed with live video projections, The Grand Cosmic Journey is an attempt to revisit these golden years where music broke the boundaries of art and cultures, when free jazz gave birth to Krautrock.
The concert was performed and recorded at opderschmelz during the "Like a Jazz Machine" festival in Dudelange May 9th 2014 and was broadcasted by Arte. Captured by 9 high definition camcorders, this release presented live is the most impressive and original production that Benoit Martiny and his bandmates have realized after eleven years performing on the european jazz scene.
