QUINCY JONES PRESENTS:
THE ALFREDO RODRIGUEZ TRIO

Alfredo Rodriguez is one of the world’s most outstanding young, highly acclaimed pianists. Quincy Jones, the legendary composer, producer and musician discovered young Alfredo at the Montreux Jazz Festival and has since become his mentor, teacher, friend and, Rodriguez says, “like a new father” to him. A young pianist of astonishing virtuosity and imagination, Cuban-born Alfredo Rodriguez calls up images of legendary jazz pianists like Keith Jarrett, Thelonius Monk, Art Tatum, Bill Evans and his compatriot Chucho Valdés. On stage he quickly established himself as a force, a powerhouse pianist, an artistically gifted wizard, and an emerging star with a prodigious talent. As an almost frenetic performer, he allows his mesmerizing technical brilliance to be tempered however by an elegant touch, an exquisite emotional intensity and beautiful voicings. “He is very special, and I do not say that easily because I have been surrounded by the best musicians in the world, and he is one of the best”, says Quincy who definitely took Alfredo under his wings by producing his first album.
