Bojan Zulfikarpasic est un grand pianiste au jeu puissant et innovateur. Tout en restant fidèle à Henri Texier et à Michel Portal qui font de lui le pilier de leurs ensembles respectifs, il tente le piano solo dans l'album « Solobsession » qui en 2001 reçoit un accueil enthousiaste. Lauréat du prix Django-Reinhardt de l'Académie du jazz en 2002, Bojan Z se voit reconnu à l'échelle internationale par l’attribution du prestigieux prix Hans Koller (European Jazzprice) en 2005. Bojan Z est un orchestre à lui tout seul. Sa musique s'inspire tout autant de la culture des Balkans dont il est originaire que des standards be-bop. Largement salué par la critique pour son étourdissante virtuosité et son style exceptionnel, il aime embrasser musiques populaires et savantes dans un même mouvement, y poser une griffe originale. Dans son nouvel album solo, « Soul Shelter », Bojan nous transporte à travers des sonorités alliant liberté et lyrisme, s’adonnant à une poésie frénétique et un discours improvisé sans limites. *** Multiple prize awarded jazz pianist Bojan Z started working with the French bassist Henri Texier later followed by the famous clarinettist Michel Portal. With his special language consisting of a mature jazz vocabulary with subtly dosed folkloric influences from the Balkans, Bojan leaves an indelible imprint on contemporary jazz. Apart from playing and recording as a sideman, Bojan leads his own formations. In 2002 he receives the Prix Django Reinhardt for Musician of the Year from the French Académie du Jazz. In 2005 he was awarded the "European Jazz Prize" ( Hans Koller Prize) as the best European jazz artist. His CD "Xenophonia" has won the prize "Les victoires du jazz 2007" as best album. On his brand new second solo recording “Soul Shelter”, Bojan adds Fender Rhodes and subtle electronic washes to his acoustic piano play. Post-bop lines fit in seamlessly with dance rhythms, funky backbeats and folk-tinged improvisations.
