Criss Cross Europe

JazzLab Series (Belgium) - Jazzus (France) - music:LX (Luxembourg) - Jazz Danmark (Denmark) - AMPA / Concertclub Paradox (The Netherlands) - Estonian Jazz Union (Estonia)

Niels Engel

Niels Engel started by studying mainly classical music at the Conservatory of Esch-sur-Alzette in Luxembourg. He got more into jazz music and took lessons in jazz drumming there until the age of 18. He won the “Young European Soloist Competition” in Luxembourg at the age of 16, and a year later became a finalist of the “European Drummer Competition” in Germany. He pursued his studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague Netherlands, where he studied drums with Joost Patocka, Stefan Kruger, Frits Landesbergen and Erik Ineke. He finished his bachelor’s degree with Marcel Serierse and Martjin Vink at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.

As a sideman, Neils also won prestigious competitions such as the “Prinses Christina Concours”, the “Grote Prijs van Nederland” and the “European Burhausen Jazz Award”. He currently plays in different formations and groups such as the Orchestre National de Jazz de Luxembourg, Pol Belardi’s Force, Marc Mangen Trio, and many more.

Marilyn Mazur

Marilyn’s music invites the listener into an adventurous world with

multicolored moods and lively energies. The space is filled with individual inputs and open dreamy soundscapes, lots of rhythm and percussion from the whole world, strong melodies and intriguing dramatic sequences.

This group is a gathering of 4 of Marilyn’s close musical friends, they have played together through many years in several different constellations, and in each others bands and large projects. In this format however, the quartet is rather new.
